Mike and Zuli

In April 2019, while Zuli was in NYC apartment-hunting for her grad school internship, her friends convinced her—somewhat reluctantly—to set up a Hinge profile for the summer. Back in Baltimore, she noticed her app location stayed in NYC, and soon after, Mike’s profile appeared. Enamored by a photo of Mike holding a pumpkin at Seaport, she swiped right, and bada bing—a match was made!

They ended up chatting for an entire month before Zuli moved to Brooklyn, bonding over their love for Shrek, live-texting the Game of Thrones series finale, and debating the best Pixar movie. In his classic style, Mike promised to take Zuli on a date to his favorite bodega, Best Deli. Instead, he opted for Night of Joy for their first date, kicking off a long night of bar-hopping that ended at the fittingly named mezcal bar, La Milagrosa. Mike then patiently waited an entire 27 days before finally asking Zuli to be his girlfriend—and the rest is history!

A pandemic, three moves, a cross-country road trip, lots of mezcal, a Pepé, a Haro, thousands of chopped cheeses, and a drunk-Zuli-in-Puerto-Rico-drunkenly-singing-Boygenius-to-Mike-right-before-he-proposed later, we cannot freaking wait to get married in Philly 🖤
